A Birthday Poem
Written to a loving son
When our birthdays come around
Are we glad or are we sad
Do we glamorize the year that passed
Or do we wonder how did we get through the last
So many things to justify
The days we laughed and the days we cried
The memories of all the wonders in life
That feeling when you loved your wife
No matter what the years will bring
We must go on with those daily things
Work and play that is our way
From day to day to day
So when our birthday comes along
It’s time for joy and that birthday song
To blow out candles and make a wish
And the promise next year will be filled with bliss.
