Another Day Another Dollar

A poem of the start of day

Photo by Clark Tibbs on Unsplash

As the sun rises to wake the day
Last night’s dreams fade away
The clock seems quicker this time of day
As we scurry around in our routine ways
What will this day bring new
A call from someone you once knew
A thank you or a passing smile
Each day brings with it a different mile
Driving to work you listen to tunes
Memories waken a love this past June
You hugged and you kissed beneath a full moon
How lovely the summer and the month of June
Clouds in the sky constantly change
Birds skip from tree to tree as then whistle away
People riding in their cars and trains
Children rushing to school to improve their brains
“Another day another dollar!”
Were my father’s words as he buttoned his collar
Until I return to my home this eve
I’ll remember his words as I roll up my sleeves.
