As The Ball Drops on New Year’s Eve

A poem about life

All that matters when you start a new year
Is how you are going to shift back into gear
How will you brush off what lingered for months
And how will you stop just picking up crumbs
How will you erase those dull rainy days
When all that you asked for was sun
And move up that ladder
Where life really matters
To fill this next year with success and fun
So stop looking back
Move out of that shack
Where your life saw nothing but grief
Those days that you said
When you fell down and bled
It’s time to treat life like a thief
So make it your wish for the end of this year
As the ball drops on New Year’s Eve
Declare it’s your time
To begin a new climb
Make each day a day to cheer.
