A poem for my best friends

Photo by Katarzyna Grabowska on Unsplash

Time and space have kept us close
Closer than butter on a piece of toast
Being there when moments seemed
Good or when we shared bad scenes
Always Johnny on the spot
Never a forget-me-not
We were born to be best friends
We knew down deep that would never end
No matter how much space or time
Together we stay in our prime
Swaying like the sound of chimes
Remembering our favorite rhymes
We are as tight today as when we were teens
Always running to catch up to dreams
Never looking back cause we
Are closer than the leaves on trees.
