A Scary Dream
Hiding in the shadows
not a one can see
My place is picture perfect
I’m alone with only me
Resisting the sun’s daylight
I walk the streets at night
Raging battle with myself
yet I never win the fight
I read the classic stories
all are written by the best
Till my eyes grow tired and weary
I fall to sleep and rest
Within that dark and dreary place
I camouflage the scene
Not a single soul is allowed
to penetrate my dream
Monsters often seek me
they cannot see I’m there
I feel an awful chill
that fills the clouded air
My mind will not allow me
to give in to what I see
I run so fast to get away
until I’m once again free
The camouflage I’ve built
shelters me throughout the night
I feel as if I’m rising
being lifted by a kite
I wake the dream is over
I am safe within my room
Until tomorrow comes
and once again I face the doom.
