A poem of desperation
Can you hear me; she asked
Can you see my pain
it’s drawn deeply in the lines on my aging face
Can you or do you
want to understand my opinion
Can you ever join in a conversation
without criticizing my every thought
Can you ever stop making
those endless demands
Can you ever allow me
the place where I stand
Can you ever stop comparing
and start sharing
Can you ever love me…again
as you promised those many years ago
Can you hear me?
