Crime Doesn’t Pay

A Poetic Story

I opened a book to read
It filled my heart my mind
I read and read throughout the night
Until my eyes blurred blind
The words designed to set a stage
For what I’ll soon behold
The character who played the lead
Was getting on in age
The story starts from when a youth
Till now as he grows old
A crime occurred
The neighbor heard
What sounded like a shot
The police arrived to find some blood
Upon the teeter tot
Though not a corpse was on the spot
We find our lead
Did the bad deed
The corpse was at his factory
A cold and empty dirty place
Reminders of his history
The crime was solved
They locked him up
He’s still there to this day
There was a moral to this tale
It was there between the lines
When ending someone’s life that way
You need a better plan next time.
