A Poem of Love
I cheer every year
when our day reappears
I cheer that I found you
my love
Was by chance our romance
would begin in a church
Then last all these years
as it has since the first
Our love stands so strong
As the words in the songs
That seem to be written for us
That’s why I fuss over you
Bring you coffee when you
Need a break it’s the least I can do
I will rhyme you my lines
To remind you you’re mine
And I’ll do it with my loving rhymes
After so many great years
I still cheer and shed tears
Wishing you keep that halo ‘round you
I pray every day as I have all these days
That you’ll love me
as I truly love you
So till our day next year rolls ‘round
Let’s explore new things to be found
Great shows and fine dinners in town
Let’s enjoy them and cheer
Let’s love each other my dear
As we did in our very first year.
