Member-only story
A poem about life
If I were to remember
a moment in time
When coffee and a doughnut
cost only two dimes
When Mothers and Fathers
were the last word at home
When lovers who married
wanted only kids and a home
If I were a Genie
with magical ways
What would I wish for
to change these new days
Would I want countless wealth
and all that money brings
Yet what would I do with
all of those things
Does money mean more
than my lingering dream
That brings me true love
each night while I sleep
There’s health and there’s happiness
and a garden of green
White clouds in a blue sky
painting the scene
Wealth doesn’t seem fit
in my place every night
Just a simple little home
with a simple kind of life
With children running ‘round
in the kitchen there’s my wife
And nowhere to be found
is strife
So I question to those
who fight every which way
What’s better than health and happiness
in your life every day.
