Why do they not see
What our most talented scientists see
Why do they not believe
While our oceans and the temperature rises
Why must their greed
Fill our air with gases until we cannot breathe
Why are we fooled
By the ones who profit from our pain
Why must we go on this way
While their greedy pockets hide what we see each day
The whys go on and so does the pollution
As the fish die as they are poisoned by the millions
As plastic waste is dumped where clean water used to be
Why do they not see
As the mighty glaciers melt away and disappear
Why do they not hear
The sounds of birds and animals as they fade away
Lost to extinction by the millions
As they cut down the trees where they live
Don’t they see what history has taught us
Don’t they see what the future will bring
Time is running out for our planet
Why must it be?
