Nothing is easy
So I ‘ve been told
Yet I’ve found lots of things easy
As I was getting old
Being nice to people
In a courteous and respectful way
Was the first thing I was taught in my younger days
Of this I am still completely sold
Never use words that are harsh and bold
Never turn a shoulder and be distant and cold
Just do the right thing
And be cool and in control
You are the captain of your own way
Wake up to each morning and say
I’m the person that I want to be today
Be present as if a gift
Get a guitar and play a riff
Be loud and be precise
Don’t make your next move
A throw of the dice
The world is changing faster than before
There are more problems than there are cures for
People want peace and a simple sort of life
Yet each time we turn
something or someone adds to their strife
We all must learn by the past that we’ve seen
We all must make decisions on all sorts of new things
We all must challenge and agree with what the future brings
And we all someday must listen when the “That Lady sings!”
So let us hope as our last day comes
That those close to us will say
“He never took more than his slice
and his motto was always…Just Be Nice!
