A story of age taking its toll
The story of a man who has lost his way/Age has crept up on him/His mind has been playing tricks on him/His memory has moments that elude him/His legs won’t carry him as far/or as quick they did/just a few years ago/He is beginning to lose his way/He walks into stores and wanders around/as if he’s looking for something/he can’t find/When asked, “Can I help you?”/he just stares/Time has a peculiar way of taking moments you recall/as blessings and turning them into/old memories that are blurred/There may be spots of time/you go in and out of/Trying to piece them together/you are frustrated/and often it angers you when you can’t locate/the missing pieces/Dates and names begin/to lose their meaning/Walks in familiar places/like parks and old neighborhoods/bring on a feeling of comfort/of belonging/Your favorite Pizza Shop/The diner where you enjoyed/so many meals/Meeting old friends over coffee/at the local Coffee House/So many places/So many faces/Piecing them together/creates a feeling of anxiety/The old faces/and the old places/are no longer the same/You are lost.
