A poem of love lost

Photo by Roman Kraft on Unsplash

On this the cold first day of Fall
An empty stage is now my all
My mind no longer will be clear
So lost I know not where or care
For this dark day a first in way’s
Declares that Fall’s appeared
And with it gloom now shares my room
No longer is she here
This hurt I feel is so surreal
My heart since first that she did steal
Forever I believed it true
To be in love our whole life through
Who knew this day could ever be
She left to cross an endless sea
I know not what will come of me
This morning there’s no sun to see
For in my soul this toll negates
I will forever curse this date
A time when in a moment’s click
The air I cannot breath so thick
Has left me all alone too soon
I fear this my doom.
