A Poem for Columbus Day
A sailor bold his heart aflame
Across the ocean he sought to claim
A land unknown a world so vast
A promise throughout history would lastColumbus sailed with courage true
Through stormy seas a steadfast crew
They reached a shore a sight so grand
A new horizon the promised landThough challenges arose and trials came
They persevered to remain strong and sane
A legacy of hope they searched to find
A land transformed that would last through timeSo let us celebrate with grateful cheer
This explorer’s spirit year after year
For Columbus’ voyage a beacon bright
A world he knew would soon unite.
