A Poem Remembering a Friend

Photo by Anthony DELANOIX on Unsplash

We’ve lost a friend from this day forth
Through life she wore the sacred cloth
That brought her close to he well known
Who sits upon the highest thrown
Our dearest Martha is worthy to be named
As she now reaches life’s end game
So many loved ones will recall her days
In a kind and loving favorable way
The way she danced and told a joke
Made you laugh and feel like folk
That was her way throughout her time
She loved the way I rhymed a line
Tomorrow when the light of day
No longer has this soul to pay
The church bells will not chime the same
Although the sun and moon remain
We’ve lost the one who lived untamed
She stands out in our picture frames
As we light candles with their flickering light
We wave farewell to our dear Martha
and bid her a last goodnight.
