The proper way to enjoy a bottle of wine
The proper way to open a bottle of wine has been the question of most wine enthusiasts throughout the centuries. Sure we all know it is easy to pop a cork. So why are there so many devices and why so often do we find ourselves ripping the cork out? The problem has grown so elusive throughout time that many wine purveyors have resorted to using simple screw-type caps. A good bottle of wine deserves an easy way out of its tightly enclosed home, and at least a reasonable glass to fulfill the joy when paired with a lovely meal. The following solution, though simple gives a brief description of the challenge.
1. Remove the foil: Start by removing the foil from the top of the bottle. You can do this by using a knife or a foil cutter.
2. Insert the corkscrew: Next, insert the corkscrew into the center of the cork and twist it in until the screw is firmly in place.
3. Pull the cork out: Then, pull the cork out of the bottle by using the corkscrew’s leverage. Hold the bottle firmly with one hand while twisting the corkscrew and pulling the cork out with the other. If using a lever-type opener, screw the cork in far enough so the lever can be placed against the upper part of the neck and lift.
4. Clean the bottle neck: After you have removed the cork, you may notice some residue or small pieces of cork in the bottle’s neck. Use a cloth or a napkin to wipe…
