There’s No Place I’d Rather Be

A song written for a Cowgirl in 1992 at the Frying Pan River Ranch

I’ve been ridin’ the trail
since I was a girl
My saddle and I are just one
My life is at peace
I live in that crease
Where life is nothin’ but fun
Within this cool place
I’m full of God’s grace
Why wouldn’t I have it that way
I look towards the sky
As I search all the why’s
I’ll be here till my dying day

I’m a gal with a dream
I live in a scene
Created only for me
I ride everyday
Clean the stalls pitch the hay
There’s no place that I’d rather be

My horse is my friend
He can see round the bend
Of those trails we have ridden and walked
I’m full of the love
That comes from above
When alone I just look up and talk
As time rolls on by
The hills make me sigh
When the sun sets I put on my vest
The cool evening breeze
Makes me roll down my sleeves
It’s that time of the day I love best

I’m a gal with a dream
I live in a scene
Created only for me
I ride everyday
Clean the stalls pitch the hay
There’s no place that I’d rather be

If I must move away
I’ll cry and I’ll pray
If He makes me a traveler again
If I must move out west
For sure it’s a test
I hope I never know when
For now we can be
Just my hubby and me
Living our lives on the trails
Singing our songs
As we ride along
And a few of his old boyhood tales
