When Will It Stop?

A Story of Today

It has become too difficult for me to comprehend what motivates people these days. I refuse to be a part of the nonsense that governs the many who prefer to be on a side, whether for good or bad. I often wonder if they even know the truth or would go along with their position if they truly understood what the future consequences of their directives would create?

My plan is to carve my own path through the jungle in the biggest city in the world, New York. It may not have the largest population, though it is considered the greatest city, if not the biggest by most of the civilized world.

Today, I stand upon a new threshold. A place I’ve never stood before in my eighty short years. There are constant rumors that envelop our country which then reflect badly on the rest of the world. Caught in this array of disbelief, I ponder what can be done to change the thinking or let’s face it change the corruptive mentality of what seems to govern our population both here in the U.S. and beyond. Corruption is the key. Fame cannot be achieved these modern days without someone doing someone a favor that leads to a financial reward that leads to a bigger position on a board of directors or elective position in government.

My skin crawls with what we witness daily. Politicians keeping us busy with their bull shit, while the world goes to pot. Not cannabis pot, I’m sorry to say, that would change things for the best. Instead of drunken bums with big cigars, a little pot would soothe their dispositions and maybe for once create a feeling of well-doing for their constituents than just how to line their pockets with another million or so dollars.

So many good people with purposes out there. The Arts are going to pot, excuse the comparison. There never seems to be any money for the many artists that fill our minds and hearts with the beauty that they can create. Instead, it's war machines and faster ways to get where no one can afford to go to anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to visit all the corners of the globe. Vacation in sun-filled places. Lie on beaches and soak up the rays. But who can afford it today? The price of everything goes up and the poor suckers that ride the trains and drive their cars to work can hardly make ends meet. Taxes are a large burden, healthcare is absurd, rents are higher and higher each year. When will it stop?
