How I wrote my first “Wonder” poem through the eyes
of a young woman named Sarah
After I created my poem and song for my children’s book I Wonder What It’s Like To Be, I thought it would be an interesting approach to write a fictitious story about someone named Sarah, (my favorite name) who came up with the idea and what happened when she did.
Once upon a time, there was a young writer named Sarah who had always been fascinated by the idea of exploring the unknown. She loved to read science fiction and fantasy novels that took her to worlds beyond her wildest dreams, and she dreamed of one day creating her own stories that would do the same for others.
One day, as she was sitting in her favorite coffee shop, staring out the window at the world passing by, an idea struck her. She began to wonder what it would be like to experience life from someone else’s perspective, to truly understand what it was like to walk in someone else’s shoes.
Excited by this idea, Sarah rushed home to her computer and began to write. The words flowed effortlessly from her fingertips, and before she knew it, she had written an entire short story exploring this theme, followed by a song.
The story was called “I wonder what it’s like to be” and it told the tale of a young girl who had always felt…
