A life’s lesson built around a joke
I’ve led you here with a title that is the punchline of an old joke. My real intention is to tell you a story that so many of us would like to tell. I know this because, when I mention this to my friends and colleagues, they all agree whole heartly.
It’s a simple premise. Most people, including myself, often misplace things. It’s “Where’s my this? And Where’s my that? The most displaced items are cell phones and reading glasses. I’m sure there are other items like pens and of course the various control devices for TV’s and such.
Why is it that people can’t remember where they have left some of the most important items in their lives? How many times have you left one of these items at a restaurant and had to turn around and go back, sometimes hours later? Or, when you left your credit card. Even when you just signed for the meal or an item at a store and the card is right there in plain sight.
The list goes on. A friend of mine has a problem locating his car. He lives in Manhattan and parks on many different streets. In Manhattan, you take what you can get when it comes to parking. Now let’s face it. It’s your car. Still, when the day comes to go back to that spot, he often has to think twice before he remembers where he parked it.
